Today, the vision of the Standing Committee Ajauqtiit to harmonize elections in Nunavut is being realized with the inclusion of elections for municipal councils and District Education Authorities in the Nunavut Elections Act.
All future municipal elections will be overseen by Elections Nunavut and administered through partnerships with the municipal corporations and District Education Authorities. The first General Election for all Nunavut municipal councils and District Education Authorities will be held on October 28, 2019.
